Introduction to a Girl Just Trying to Figure Life Out

Hi my name is Anna Dragg but most people call me Annie. On my school ID it shows Henley because we have not switched it in the computer system as of yet. I am newly married to a hardworking man named Mark Allen Dragg. We met in the Navy during one of our military trainings. If you ask him he will tell you it was love at first sight, but for me it took time. It took me about three weeks of knowing him before I knew that he was the one I wanted to marry. Now here we are. Besides the fact that I am a wife and a sailor I also aspire to travel the world. I have traveled to Germany about 3 times. While I spent my time in Germany the destination I most desired going to see was a gate. I know it doesn't sound that flattering but the Gate known as Brandenburg Tor has a lot of historical meaning that truly speaks to me. After getting through school and work, I then traveled to France. The Eiffel Tower is something you get a sense of amazement from seeing. The last Country I visited was China. It is a very unique and cultural place. I had been a vegetarian for four years and while in China I ate a Frog leg. It was awful and I will not consume meat ever again. I love traveling the world and making friends along the way. I like to be surrounded by the unknown sometimes because it helps me get out of comfort zone; Traveling provides all that for me. Also another known fact about me is I really like to ski. My husband and I recently went to Colorado and skied and snowboard together. The feeling of being on top of snow capped mountains and breathing in the vast mountain air is breathtaking to me.

  1. Hi Anna, congratulations on the marriage and I think it is awesome how much you have gotten to travel. I am planning on joining the military myself after I am finished with school. Hopefully, I am as fortunate as you are and get to travel all around the world. Sorry to hear about the frog leg! Personally, I do not think I would ever try one. It is nice to meet you and good luck with the rest of your semester.

  2. Annie, you looked absolutely stunning in your dress! And congrats on being a newlywed! I think it is so amazing all the traveling you have done. I have been a cheerleader my whole life so my family could never take vacations because it's a year round sport, so I love seeing other people and the awesome places they get to go. You seem like quite the adventurous girl! Ps... Frog leg... Ew!!

  3. What a sweet story, Annie, and such a lovely picture! It was like that for my husband and me also: we made up our minds pretty quickly to get married (second time around for each of us), and now we've been together for over 10 years, very happily so. I hope you have many happy years ahead as well! And while this class cannot magically transport you to the snow-capped mountains of the Himalayas, those mountains are very central to the Indian storytelling tradition... so keep an eye out for Shiva and his wife Parvati, the daughter of the mountain king... you'll see references to Shiva here and there throughout the epics, and if you want to learn more about him and the sacred mountains of the Himalayas, you could do that in the second half of the semester! :-)

  4. HI Annie,

Wow! Your story is so unique, and I loved getting to read about your different life experiences. You definitely have travelled a lot, and that is really awesome! My family is always wanting to travel to new countries, and one country we haven't been to yet is Germany. So, I really liked getting to read about your experience there! You also look beautiful in your dress! Congratulations on your wedding!

  5. Annie, that's so sweet that he said it was love at first sight! I think sometimes it takes more time for girls to love the boys cause boys are crazy (haha). That is so awesome that you've been able to travel so much! The only place out of the country I have been to is Mexico in a super tourist-y type spot. I would love to go over seas one day! You looked beautiful on your wedding day! Thanks for sharing!

  6. Hello Annie! First of all, congratulations on your marriage! You look beautiful in the picture as well as your dress. That is really cool that you have been to many places. I wonder what kind of frog leg that you have, but in my country, fried frog leg is actually a delish haha. The love story you have with your husband is really lovely. And it is really nice to know about you and your story!

  8. Hi Anna, congratulations on getting married, you’re dress is so pretty! That’s also super cool that you’re in the Navy and have gotten to travel so much. I have been to Germany once, and I absolutely loved it. It’s my favorite place I’ve ever traveled to. The Eiffel tower is something I’d love to see but haven’t had the chance to yet. Hopefully someday I will get to! Nice to meet you!

  9. Awww it was so cute that it was love at first sight for your husband. Three weeks isn’t a long time either though. I’m glad you were able to find someone you wanted to be with for the rest of your life so early on—it takes others so many tries and so many years, you know? It’s so cool that you are able to travel so many places while in the Navy. I’m Vietnamese and we eat some pretty weird stuff, but I would never come close to a frog leg, even with an 8 foot pole. Also, you look beautiful in your wedding dress!

  10. Hi Annie! Congratulations on your marriage, that's awesome! It's super adorable that your husband fell in love with you at first sight! I totally understand the travel bug because once you start, it's hard to stop traveling. I visited Paris a few years ago and I agree with you that the Eiffel Tower is amazing. Good luck with the rest of your semester!

  11. That's awesome that you have been able to travel the world. I'm sure you plan on having that be apart of your life from the moment you first did so. Traveling the world is something I plan on doing in the future also; I would love to travel to Tibet actually. Aldo, congratulations on your wedding. I am getting married this year myself, and I am very excited for it.

  13. Hi Annie,

From reading your introduction, it sounds like you are a true world traveler. How cool is that! If you could choose, where would you want to travel next? What is the one thing that you would say is your most memorable experience from traveling thus far? My husband and I travel to Breckenridge, CO every year for our annual ski trip and we absolutely love it! (But we did not get to go this year, due to me being pregnant). You are absolutely correct - there is almost nothing better that breathing in that cold, fresh mountain air! :-)
I really love your photos and good luck with your studies.

  14. Nice to meet you Annie! You sound like you are very busy! You definitely chose the wrong meat to try for the first time after being vegetarian! Your travels sound fun- maybe you will add some of your own stories about traveling and different regions into your stories this semester! I look forward to reading your blog!! I bet your stories will be really interesting!

  15. Hi Anna,

I think it is awesome how many places you have traveled. I hope that some day I can travel across the globe like you! And yuck about the frog leg! That seemed pretty courageous though! I also love to ski! It is always a breathtaking sight as you get off the ski lift and look at the mountain and the environment around you. Thanks for sharing!

  17. Hi Anna,

I like the way you put it with you needing time to decide if he was the right one for you. I too, had a whirlwind romance with my wife. It took about 2 months to figure out we were all in. Congratulations to you and your husband.

Your travel stories are interesting too. Ill admit that I have done all my traveling inside the U.S. I actually just took a job that looks like will relocate me to the Denver, Colorado area. Good luck to you and all of your travels.

  18. I genuinely enjoyed reading your intro, because everything in it sounded so cool. Except for maybe that frog leg, haha. I really admire the fact that you’ve traveled so much and pushed yourself out of your comfort zone in doing so, because that’s something I’m trying to improve on in my own life. Congrats on your recent marriage, too! It sounds like you guys have a great future ahead of you, and your love at first sight/love at three weeks story was awesome. Here’s hoping you guys get to visit lots of other places together!

  19. Hi Anna, it is nice to meet you! I think it is awesome that you are so well traveled. I want to travel to Europe someday. I have been to a few tropical countries but nothing as far as Europe. I have had frog legs at home and I loved them but I love meat so it was probably a much different experience. Good luck with this semester!

  20. Hi Anna, nice to read your introduction! That is fantastic to see that you have found that one person that you want to be with! I wish you both the best. Germany and France both sound amazing! I want to go to Europe so bad but I have sadly never even been out of the United States. I love Colorado though! Snowboarding is so much fun!

  21. Hi, Annie! I also love to travel, and especially hearing about other's travels! I have been to France, but Germany and China are still on my list. I love that you are living your life to the fullest and frequently perusing the things that make you the happiest. It is so nice to meet you and I look forward to reading some of your stories!

  22. Hi Anna, it is very nice to meet you! Congratulations on your recent marriage that is so awesome and you looked so pretty in your picture! I loved reading about all the places you have traveled to. I am a huge traveler and love to hear about other peoples experiences when they travel so it was refreshing reading about your travels. The Eiffel Tower is one of my favorite landmarks in history, it is such a surreal experience standing underneath something of that stature that has been there for that long!

  23. Nice to meet you Anna! Congrats on getting married! Your wedding photo is gorgeous! That’s so awesome that you are a sailor! I don’t meet many of those in Oklahoma. Where do you like to sail? Wow you traveled to a lot of really cool places! I don’t blame you for hating the frog leg. I can’t imagine that tasted very good. I hope you are having a good semester!

  24. Hi Annie! It so nice to meet you! Congrats on getting married! I just read your story about WWII and after reading your introduction I can see where your passion for the subject comes from! It is so cool that you are a sailor and that you have gotten to have so many unique experiences, although I'm sure you regret the frog leg! Im not sure if I would be brave enough to try it in the first place! Its really nice to meet you and I can't wait to read more of your work!

  25. Annie, I can totally relate to your title. I feel like every in this course is in the process of figuring their life out or is really close. Congratulations on your marriage. I wish you the best. I hope to be married one day. I found it quite comical that you said it "took time" for you to know that he was "the one" and it ended up only taking three weeks. That must be an exciting moment. I'm intrigued by how much you've been able to travel. I've only been to Italy so far, but I hope to be in Paris next!

  26. Hey Annie! First off, congratulations on the marriage! I wish you the best and hope it last forever and ever! I'm hoping to be married one day to my girlfriend, of almost a year now, but who knows.I'm so jealous of all the travelling experiences you have had. That's just awesome. I would love to see the Eiffel tower some day. Good luck with everything!

  27. Hello Annie! I feel like you're the last student I that I haven't been introduced to you. I remember reading a story of yours but do not see a comment on this post yet. I truly am jealous at how much you have traveled so far. I have only left the country once for a mission trip so I wasn't really there to relax and vacation. We were there for a mission and the mission was to build a house in a week. Hopefully some day I will get to see the Eiffel tower some day too! Pictures don't do wonders of the world justice.
